New Playground at the Griggs Sports Complex

The new playground at the Griggs Sports Complex was recently installed by the City of Alamogordo Parks Division and is now ready for use. The new playground is located between the two four-plex baseball fields. This playground is one of ten (10) new ADA-accessible playgrounds that have been installed by the Parks Division in the past four years. The Alameda Park Zoo will be getting a new playground installed in early 2008 to replace the old playground near the mountain lion exhibit. Funding for these new playgrounds was made possible by a combination of the Quality of Life Bond Refinancing Series 1994 and 2000, as well through the City's General Fund. The installation of the new playgrounds as well as the development of four new neighborhood parks continues to improve the quality of life for the citizens and families that reside in the City of Alamogordo.

I hope the next step in improvements that are made at the Griggs Sports complex is walkways to the football field area. There are cemented walk ways to both baseball field areas, but none to the football fields. Each Saturday morning during football season, parents have to walk quite some way through long wet grass to get to the Pee Wee & Youth football fields. Not to mention if you have to bring drinks and cannot roll your cooler in the grass. It would be a nice addition to this sports park.
